Doxyvet 50% BT

500 mg/g Doxycycline Hyclate
Powder for oral administration

Treatment of gastrointestinal, respiratory and urogenital infections, septicaemia, erysipelas, MMA-syndrome, enzootic pneumonia, chlamydiosis, arthritis, pododermatitis and other bacterial diseases in cattle, pigs, poultry caused by organisms sensitive to doxycycline.

Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the tetracycline class. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis intracellularly by binding on the 30-S ribosome subunits. This interferes with binding of aminoacetyl-tRNA to the acceptor site on the mRNA ribosome complex and prevents coupling of amino acids to the elongating peptide chains. Doxycycline acts bacteriostatic against many Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, like Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp., Bordetella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Actinobacillus spp., Brucella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Clostridium spp. Doxycycline is also active against Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia and Borrelia. Proteus species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungi are not sensitive to doxycycline.
