For the treatment of colibacillosis, salmonellosis and other gastrointestinal infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria susceptible to the colistin in pigs and poultry.
Colistin sulphate, as an active ingredient of Colitin, is a polypeptide antibiotic belonging to the polymyxin class produced by certain strains of the bacteria Bacillus polymyxa.
Colistin sulphate is active against Gram-negative bacteria and in particular Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Bacteroides spp.

Dosage and administration

For oral administration via feed or water for 3 days (in the case of salmonellosis for 5 days). 
- Pigs: 5-8 g per 100 kg body weight (by individual administration, divide the dose into 2 intakes).
- Poultry: 5-8 g per 10 L of drinking water or 400 g per ton of feed.
The powder is water-soluble. The medicated water should be the only source of drinking water for the animals for the entire duration of the treatment period. The medicated water should be replaced every 24 hours.


Withdrawal periods

Meat: 7 days.
Eggs: 0 days.


Shelf life

Shelf life of the veterinary medicinal product as packaged for sale: 3 years.

Storage conditions

Store in the original package between 5°C to 25°C, protected from light and moisture.

Presentation

Colitin is marketed in metallized polyethylene bags of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 500, 1000 g or paper bags with polyethylene liners of 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 kg.
