Florvetin 300

300 mg/ml Florfenicol 
Solution for injection 

For the treatment of respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections, bacterial keratoconjunctivitis, hoof infections and other diseases in cattle, pigs, dogs and cats caused by florfenicol sensitive microorganisms. 

Florfenicol, as an active ingredient in Florvetin 300, is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic from the amphenicols group. It is a fluorinated derivative of thiamphenicol and has a fluorine atom instead of the hydroxyl group in the structure. Florfenicol exhibits bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus somnus, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis, Streptococcus suis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Moraxella bovis, etc.

Dosage and administration

For intramuscular, subcutaneous injection.

- Cattle: 1 ml per 15 kg body weight (20 mg florfenicol per kg body weight) administered by intramuscular injection twice with a 48-hour interval or single dose of 2 ml per 15 kg body weight (40 mg florfenicol per kg body weight) administered by subcutaneous injection.

- Pigs: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight (15 mg florfenicol per kg body weight) administered by intramuscular injection in the neck twice with a 48-hour interval.

- Dogs, cats: 0,05 ml per 1 kg body weight (15 mg florfenicol per kg body weight) administered by intramuscular injection with a 48-hour interval for 4-6 consecutive days.

The volume administered per injection site should not exceed 10 ml. If ambient temperature is low, warm up the vial to +30°C. Use only dry and sterile syringe and needle.

Withdrawal period

Cattle:    
Meat: 34 days following intramuscular administration.
Meat: 42 days following subcutaneous administration.
Milk: Not authorised for use in lactating animals producing milk for human consumption.
Pigs:       
Meat: 14 days.

Shelf life

Shelf life of the veterinary medicinal product as packaged for sale: 2 years.
Shelf life after first opening the container: 25 days.
Do not use this veterinary product after the expiry date which is stated on the label.


Storage conditions

Store in the original package between 5°C to 25°C, protected from light and moisture.
