Active ingredients

Each syringe (20 g) contains:
Cefapirin (as Cefapirin benzathine) ………...………………...500 mg
Methyluracil ……………………………………………………...500 mg

Dosage and administration

The contents of one Metricef syringe (20 g) should be introduced into the lumen of the uterus using the disposable catheter (pipette) provided. Fix the syringe to the catheter (pipette). Take the cervix of the uterus into one gloved hand introduced into the rectum. Introduce the catheter through the cervix into the lumen of the uterus, by gentle oscillating movements of the cervix. Inject Metricef. One treatment with Metricef is usually sufficient for a complete cure.
Thoroughly clean the vulva area and free the uterine cavity from inflammatory exudate if necessary.
For the treatment of subacute and chronic endometritis the medication may be applied not earlier than 14 days after the calving. The treatment can be repeated in 7-14 days at the same dose if necessary. Pre-treatment (3-4 days prior to Metricef administration) with a prostaglandin F2α is recommended in order to induce luteolysis and to remove debris from the uterine cavity. In animals that have been inseminated, Metricef may be used in 6-24 hours after insemination.
