Koktsifer
The drug is used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes in piglets for coccidiosis and iron deficiency anemia.
The drug belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group: anticoccidial agents in combinations. Toltrazuril – a derivative of triazinetrione, has a broad spectrum of anti-eimeria action against all species of eimeria parasitizing pigs (Eimeria debliecki, Eimeria scabra, Eimeria perminuta, Eimeria spinosa, Eimeria polita, Eimeria suis, Eimeria porci, Eimeria neodebliecki, Eimeria scrofae), including those resistant to other anticoccidial agents, as well as isospores (Isospora suis). The drug has a lethal effect on eimeria at all stages of development. The mechanism of action of toltrazuril involves blocking respiratory enzymes, causing damaging effects on mitochondria and the division processes of eimeria. This disrupts the process of macrogametocyte formation, leading to the death of the parasite.
