Milk replacer Betolak feeding recommendations
Good milk replacers should contain a minimum of 18 to 22% crude protein and 10 to 22% crude fat.
Crude Fat.
Provides a concentrated energy source and essential fatty acids. Calves raised in a cold environment have a higher
the requirement for energy.
Crude Protein.
Provides essential amino acids for tissue synthesis in animals.
Vitamin and Mineral Supplements.
Many vitamins and minerals are supplemented for normal health, growth and maintenance of calves. Vitamin A, D and E are necessary for the normal growth and health of animals.
L-Lysine and Methionine.
Essential amino acids necessary for calf growth.
Betolak 11 and Betolak 16 - Recommendations for calves feeding up to 3 months of age.

Note: - single feeding volume equals 4-5% of the calf’s body weight
- all calves should have access to fresh, clean water and fresh at all times
These feeding directions are only a guideline and should be adjusted to the needs of the calf. Observe calves closely during the milk replacer feeding period. Avoid underfeeding, which may result in starvation and overconsumption (overfeeding) which may increase incidence of scours.
- Mix only enough solution for one feeding.
- Use clean feeding utensils.
- Keep fresh, clean water before calves at all times.
- Starting approximately 1 week of age, provide a good quality calf starter on a free choice basis
- Milk replacer bags should be stored in a clean, dry place not subject to excessive heat. Opened milk replacer bags should be stored in an air tight fashion to prevent exposure to contamination, pests, heat and humidity.
