Treatment of gastroenteritis in poultry and growth promoting

Clostridium perfringens is the causative agent of necrotic enteritis - one of the most economically important enteric pathogens of broiler chickens. C. perfringens is a common inhabitant of the chicken intestinal tract, with no apparent impact on the host. It can also be found in faeces, soil, dust and contaminated feed or litter. In outbreaks of necrotic enteritis, both contaminated feed and litter have been incriminated as sources of infection.

It is now understood that C. perfringens causes a spectrum of illness, which includes infection that affects performance without causing clinical signs, mild clinical infection (including diarrhea) and liver disease, as well as the more commonly recognized fulminant infection that can result in outbreaks with substantial mortality. An acute or chronic enterotoxemia seen in chickens, turkeys and ducks worldwide, caused by Clostridium perfringens and characterised by a fibrino-necrotic enteritis, usually of the mid- small intestine. Mortality may be 5-50%, usually around 10%. Predisposing factors include coccidiosis/coccidiasis, diet (high protein), in ducks possibly heavy strains, high viscosity diets (often associated with high rye and wheat inclusions in the diet), contaminated feed and/or water, other debilitating diseases.

Multhiomycin (Nosiheptide) prevents C. perfringens from growth thus preventing the spread of necrotic enteritis.

 ADVANTAGES OF MULTIOMYCIN 1%
● Antibacterial action against Gram-positive bacteria resistant to other antibiotics
● Does not have cross-resistance with other agents, resistance to the drug does not develop.
● Prevents diseases of GIT associated with Clostridium spp., and other pathogens, inhibits growth of conditionally pathogenic microflora in the digestive tract.
● Increases resistance to disease and improves animal health.
● Promotes an increase in the average daily weight gain.
● Promotes feed utilization.
● Reduces ammonia concentration in feces.
● Without withdrawal period for meat or eggs.
● Thermostable.
●Compatible with other drugs, coccidiostatics (eimeriostatics) and feed additives.

Multhiomycin 1% (Nosiheptide) 10 mg/g Powder for oral use

Nosiheptide is a polypeptide antibiotic obtained by the incubation of Streptomyces actuosus. It has a strong antibacterial effect mainly on of Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria  (Clostridium spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes hemolyticus, Streptococcus viridans, Streptococcus faccalis, Diplococcus pneumonia and a growth promoting effect on chickens (including broilers).

Nosiheptide (Multhiomycin) is non-absorbant growth promoter, positively effects non-pathogenic microflora in gastrointestinal tract, has no inhibitory action on beneficial for digestion and health microorganisms.
